This is the much photographed and famous Wanaka Tree. My version. We drove into Wanaka from Fox Glacier arriving mid afternoon. It was freezing and blowing a total gale, and there were hundred's of eager photographers all over the place. So here's my shot dodging between people and trying to keep warm. Not the dreamy sunset/sunrise captures I've seen but I'm happy with the colour and the hazy light. Such a beautiful place to visit but we had to make our way to Arrowtown via the Crown Range that day so the time spent here was unfortunately a little brief.

Thank you, this tree was on my bucket list, such a fragile little piece of nature, magic place to be :)

I like this shot! Because it is so different than many shots of this scene. The blues and golds make it stand out.

Thanks Cyndi, to be honest I was nervous to put this photo up because it didn't look like the many shots I'd seen but then this is how the scene appeared when I was there....I look at this now and truly love the colours and light!

Great shot Sally, I managed to capture it early morning in the winter with no leaves, just birds. It was -5C that morning and after an hour out there I was chilled to the bones. It's great to see the number of different takes on 'that' tree.

Thanks so much William, I didn't realise 'that' tree was so tiny, seems so fragile! It was so incredibly windy that afternoon, and freezing..but not -5C! You're a brave man LOL :)

Great photo - I don't think I've seen photos with so much water in the lake around it :)

Thank you Margaret. I believe Tekapo is tidal so maybe this gives my capture more water?

I love your image of the Wanaka Tree! Trees are my very favorite subject to photograph. I would love to see this tree, and New Zealand in general. Well done!

Very creative photo in that the colors are so interesting and different from other I have seen of this same scene.

Thank you heaps, it's hard create something a little different with such a well photographed subject. Maybe it's away from the still reflection with the choppy water!

Thanks so much deekaycee, blue is a very prominent colour in New Zealand with so many glacial lakes. :)
