Unlike mammals, a variety of birds (and fish, herptiles, and insects) display all three primary colors. Here a spot of yellow on the lower beak highlights the similar shades in eyes and crest to compliment the brilliant blue neck with red wattles of a cassowary. These large, flightless birds are endangered in much of their remaining range in Australia, New Guinea and nearby islands where they are threatened mostly by habitat loss, dogs, and motor vehicles.
