I have to admit this shot is a bit of a cliche. Just about every photographer who visits this wonderful ruin stands in this exact spot to get this picture. In fact, when you buy your admittance ticket at the visitors centre, the staff advise you where to stand to take the shot! Anyway, I'm so glad you like the image and thank you for the compliment.

There is nothing like this where I live, so I am well impressed....cliche or not, this image is stunning!! :)

Ah yes! This is the older sibling of my shot! I love the closeness of yours. I was only in Whitby for a couple of days and the Abbey was shut when I photographed it so the viewpoint was the other side of the wall. It did mean I had to find the shot without assistance though ;))

Thank you, Suz. When we visited this abbey three years ago we bought day tickets, which meant we could come and go at different times of day as the light changed. The only trouble was, we had to climb the 199 steps up from the harbour three times in one day. Talk about aching legs... :(
