4.15am at the Muriwai gannet colony on Auckland's West Coast. It was crisp, cold and perfectly clear and the stars were absolutely spellbinding. The lights down on the rocks were provided by fisherman I think and I like the glow it adds to the shot. There were a number of unexpected gannets (visible bottom left of frame) and the gentle sound of their jibber jabbering was soothing and rounded off a perfect night.
