Patience will often reward, I'd visited this lake in Dominican Republic on a few occasions in the two weeks being spent there with the flamingo's always being far and few between. Even when I managed to locate them the birds would always be way off in the distance and scatter once you started to move closer. I decided to arrive halfway through the night and find a suitable position where the birds wouldn't spot me and waited for the sun to rise. There are moments in photography where it all pays off, this was one of those times. Flamingo's are a beautiful bird to observe - they can also be rather clumsy when trying to take off - their all legs and neck!
