Close Up Animal Action portrait photography. This was the first day out in the fields for these rare breed Pale Face Ducklings after spending their first few weeks after hatching in a special enclosure. They all still needed to get accustomed to the water but were , well , like ducks to it , spotting the makeshift paint palette and instantly grabbing the chance to get in and wet their feathers. Using macro techniques and shallow depth this candid portrait of ducklings at play makes the most of the balance of light and shade as well as creating a feeling of movement and dreamy action from the subtle bokeh of the flying water droplets.
