This poor hulk was lying stuck in the dry river bed at Heswall Shore, UK. The River Dee silted up long ago, and is now a vast reed marsh. This stretch of the river is parched and baked dry from the recent prolonged heatwave. Scattered about the reed beds, high and dry away from the water, are dozens of decaying boats. This one looks as if its sea-faring days are many years behind it.

How perfect with the dried up river bed. Love this one.

Thanks, Jess. This mud may look bone dry (which is what I believed when I ventured onto it) but looks can be deceiving and I ended up with half the river bed caked onto my shoes!

Wow! That really is sad - once-great beats dying in the drought!

There are so many of them here, each with countless stories to tell.
