Yes, that’s really its name. And it IS superb, in color, smarts, beauty.
The Superb Starling (Lamprotornis superbus) is, of course, a member of the starling family. It lives in savannah, shrubby areas, and even likes the thorny acacia tree. It feeds primarily on the ground, and seems to not particularly mind people, since I took this picture outside of a tourist trap store at the gate to a national park in Tanzania.
