The office supervisor still keeping control of things.
A current portrait of our white fantailed dove, which continues to terrorise us in between looking after her eggs - she has now produced 45 sets of 2 each time. She looks after each set very carefully for a couple of weeks or so, before presumably sensing that nothing is going to hatch. She then loses interest in them and goes back to terrorising us!
She has also developed a craving, almost an addiction, for peanut flips/curls or whatever you call them! I break half of one up into little pieces at a time, which she then picks from the palm of my hand. Instead of showing any gratitude, the gentle picking of pieces quickly turns into hard pecking of my hand when there is nothing left!
She is also very good at telling us when she wants fresh water for a bath. She jumps in and out of the square bowl we use for this, making it very clear that she is not satisfied with any water that is still in it and demanding fresh water. I then have to go to the bathroom to provide the new water in the bowl (has to be the right temperature of course). When I return and replace the bowl on the windowsill, she very quickly flies over, lands on the edge of the bowl, and then jumps in and out a couple of times to test the water. She then stays in the water and goes through quite a cleaning routine! This is followed by a lot of wing flapping and preening for the drying process, with water drops going everywhere. But of course we always make a point of telling her how nice it is to have a clean bird again and how beautiful she looks!!
