Here is something we can learn from Tranini about the techniques and story behind this awarded photo.

1. Tranini, where did you take this photo?

On Antelope island, Salt lake, Utah

2. What time of day?

At blue hour, around 8 pm on my way back to Salt Lake city. The dear just stood there looking at me curiously posing and waiting long enough to grab my camera, leave the car and compose the shot.

3. Anything worth sharing about lighting?

Natural light, the sun was already down, but the dark was still waiting.Really dreamy blue everything. The grass on the right is warmly coloured by the headlights of the car.

4. What equipment did you use?

Nikon D4, Nikkor 80-400 VR lens, hand held

5. What inspired you to take this photo?

The unspoiled nature of Antelope Island was the real inspiration for my trip there. It was a gorgeous sunset before that and everything looked right

6. Did you do any post-processing? if yes, tell us about it!

Some slight tweaks in Adobe Camera raw

7. What equipment do you normally have in your bag?

Nikkon D4, Nikkor 80-400mm, 24-70mm, 14-24mm lenses, Lee Big Stopper 10ND, Velbon portable tripod

8. Any advice for others trying to capture something similar?

be patient and at the same time ready to take any opportunity that opens. If in the car, better have other driver (a patient and committed one, preferably), don't get upset easy - some of the best opportunities come after failures.
