1. mattspeight, where did you take this photo?

This photo was taken in southern Alberta Canada, at Castle falls near Pincher Creek. While we were on our first camping trip of the season.

2. What time of day?

The photo was taken at 8:00 pm as the the sun was getting low in the sky.

3. Anything worth sharing about lighting?

I had the exposure compensation low to capture the darkness of the clouds and the detail of the water.

4. What equipment did you use?

I used a Sony A850 and a Sony Carl Zeiss 16-35mm f/2.8 Zoom Lens.

5. What inspired you to take this photo?

I love to be outdoors and in nature, and this waterfall represents the power of the natural world .

6. Did you do any post-processing? If yes, tell us about it!

I just changed it to black and white and adjusted the contrast a bit.

7. What equipment do you normally have in your bag?

I have my laptop, an assortment of cords, a wide angle and telephoto lens. Also, I carry an extender lens, snack bars and water.

8. Any advice for others trying to capture something similar?

My advice would be to get outdoors, don't always go to the tourists heavy spots, get out in the bush so to speak. Be patient in waiting for the right light and cloud position. And leave your comfort zone at home.
