My daughter wanted to take senior photos in a wheat field, so she found a white dress and I found a local farmer willing to allow us access. I like the golden colors of the field and sky in this photo.

Location
This photo was taken in a local wheat field for a senior photo session.Time
It was early afternoon--not prime portrait time. By the time we found a field and contacted the landowner, we had a small window to work with before it would be harvested. It was hot (August 1) and the bugs were awful. It was windy and sunny--less than ideal conditions!Lighting
It was a sunny afternoon with scattered clouds, so I had to use a flash to fill in the shadows on most of the photos that day. The sky was also washed out in many of them, but in others it was a beautiful blue with fluffy clouds. I ended up layering the sunset photo as the background on this photo. I love the golden color of the wheat that matches the colors of the sunset.Equipment
I used a Canon 7ti with a 50mm prime lens. I did use an external flash because it was around 1 PM and the sun was high in the sky. There were scattered clouds and the wind was blowing, so we had to face the direction that would keep the hair from blowing across her face (usually the sun behind her)Inspiration
In trying to work with the sun and wind, we just decided to have her squat down with just her head and shoulders above the wheat.Editing
I used photoshop layers to add the beautiful sunset sky to match the golden wheat. In my camera bag
I usually carry 2 bodies since I had one quit working while shooting fireworks last summer. I also like to have 2 lenses ready to go. I carry a couple of zoom lenses and like to have one lens that takes a wider shot for landscapes as I drive around. If I am doing sports, it's usually a 55-250 or 70-200 lens. If I am doing portraits/group photos, I have a 24 mm and a 50 mm. I carry a tripod and large round reflector in my car. I always have extra batteries and chargers, extra SD cards, and lens cleaning supplies.Feedback
