The photo was taken at the Formentor Lighthouse in Mallorca. I had the idea of ??composing something with the milky way, the lighthouse and the road in this location.Time
The photo was taken on February 28, 2020 at 6:40 a.m, just before blue hour. It was a night in which my friend and I no longer slept ... It was the month of February, and at that time the Milky Way leaves very late ... we decided not to sleep and went to the location to plan the photography well. We look for the best position and We organice how whe have to drive the car.Lighting
The idea was to capture the Milky Way, the lighthouse, and the car traces through the road that goes to the lighthouse. For this we decided to use the parameters of Iso 3200, f2.8, 30s. The car had the position lights so that they did not come out badly burned in the photo. Like this we control the exposure wellEquipment
This was shot on a SonyA73 with a Sigma 14-24 f.2.8, with a Rollei tripod and My f-stop gear bag LokaInspiration
The Formentor lighthouse is a very beautiful and well-known lighthouse on the island of Mallorca. I had seen many photos of sunsets with traces of cars and I had taken some simple night photography myself. I had never seen a photo of Formentor with the Milky Way and car light trails so I set myself the challenge of doing it. We had to hurry because it was getting daylight, but in the end we reached the desired result.Editing
This is a panoramic photograph of 8 vertical photos. I first stitched the panorama together with Lightroom and made a few basic adjustments to it. Lights, shadows, some contrast and texture... Then pass the photo to Photoshop to finish giving contrast to the milky way and leave the photograph finishedIn my camera bag
In my bag I always carry my Sony A7M3 camera with the Sigma 14-24 f.2.8, the Samyang 14mm f.2.8, the Sigma 35mm 1.4 and the Sony 24-105 f.4 lenses. But when I do night photography, the Sigma 14-24 f.2.8 is the one that I carry almost always in the camera. I always carry 3 or 4 flashlights with different temperatures and a powerful head light.Feedback
To take this type of photography it is very important that it be a cloudless night, totally clear, and in a place with little light pollution. To capture the car lights, the driver traveled the road up and down in each of the panoramic shots, so it is important that there is good communication with the driver. My advice is that you do not use very high ISOs (between 2000 and 4000) and that the car lights are not very powerful in order to get a correct exposure. But my main advice is that you try to be original and that you enjoy this world of photography
