I had for quite some time been in trying to capture this beautiful nemesis of mine. They are such majestic creatures and I went on a day trip to Land Between The Lakes in Tennessee. A wonderful ranger told me about these beautiful birds near by and allowed me to get a little close not to disturb them as I was careful not to but to try and capture their majestic beauty.Time
This was probably my least favorite time of day to shoot early afternoon but the opportunity presented itself and I was not about to pass it up . I had been seeking this opportunity for quite some time and just tried to do my best in a not so great lighting situation.Lighting
Being it was early afternoon on a full sunny day the lighting was not great. Trying to deal with shadows and the bright day was a challenge.Equipment
I used my Canon D77 with my 75-300 mm lens. I usually always shoot my pictures handheld except on rare occasions this not being one of them . I used the natural light .Inspiration
This being a rare opportunity for shooting something that I had been seeking I just wanted to capture this beautiful majestic bird the best way I could. This bird symbolizes the majestic beauty of our country and is a beautiful symbol of this great land of ours.Editing
Sometimes photos taken in not so good circumstances as this photo was ie : middles of the day , bright and sunny does require some post processing as it can be over or under exposed. I the lighting was adjusted in this pic as well as hiding some shadows due to the time of day when it was taken .In my camera bag
I usually have my Canon D77 which I love or my Canon D 90 . I love these cameras as they are versatile and easy to use . I usually have my 75-300 mm lens , 135 mm , 50mm , as well as other lens for macro photography as I also love that as well .Feedback
These are majestic creatures and they are stunning to try and capture. There are laws in place you must follow to try and capture these beauties as they are protected. Special times of the year when they are more available to try and capture. Study were they are . Follow the guidelines set forth for their protection. They are so beautiful to capture but you have to do a bit of work to find where they are and watch them from a distance. They are here for our enjoyment we need to do everything we can to protect these beautiful creatures.
