After getting to review finalist and the winner, I must say, this is my most favorite of all photos in this contest. It truly is a "capture of the eye", therefore, "captivating" in my own eye! Congratulations! This is brilliant!

Location
Western Spring gardens and park. West AucklandTime
Mid afternoon when we were wrapping up for the day around 2 or 3pmLighting
We were standing watching the other folks in park enjoying their day. I noticed that Sam was standing in the shade of the ferns and trees with the shadow effects playing across her face. It was the afternoon sun. The light was bright enough to use the natural available light for the shot. Told Sam not to move and snapped three or four shots.Equipment
Canon 30D camera set in manual mode 28 - 70mm L Series Canon f2.8 Zoom lens no image shake reduction No Flash No Tripod Shutter 1/250 Aperture f/10 ISO 200 Focal Length 60mmInspiration
I was trying to use the outdoor nature of the park, it has a lake, various crops of native plants, trees, indigenous animals and for contrast the Auckland Zoo behind it. The park enables that feeling of being away from the city without leaving the city for miles to find either a beach or native bush.Editing
I used a Canon software known as DPP which is included with the camera and later Adobe photoshop. I am not overly experienced with software so I try and get what I want first off in the view finder before taking the shot.In my camera bag

Be aware of your environment Watch the quality of your available light Make sure your model is comfortable enough to do as asked when ever you need them to move or not. Ensure your equipment functions as expected. Always carry a backup camera, but I didn't this day so these were taken with my EOS 30D. I would usually carry Canon 40D camera as all the other lenses in my bag would fit it as well. Don't be afraid to experiment
