Location
This photo was taken at an artistic sculpture park in Melbourne.Time
The time was mid-afternoon. Some grey clouds had rolled in covering the gorgeous bright blue sky.Lighting
I wanted to make the pink and white of the flowers stand out even more, to create the feeling of Spring. To achieve this, although it is cloudy meaning less backlit petals and darker tree trunks, I had to ensure there was still decent exposure to light.Equipment
I believe my tool of choice was a handy iPhone 7.Inspiration
I was inspired by the thought of Japan’s sakura tree-lined streets in Spring, and how it must feel to be totally surrounded by their swathes of soft colour, floating petals, and wondrous, fluffy texture.Editing
I don’t remember post-processing this one… if I did I would probably try to minimise the dark clouds making the day seem bleak! In my camera bag
I am a hobby photographer with a tight budget, so I just bring my iPhone on adventures and keep it accessible if I am in the mood for photography.Feedback
If you want a similar capture, perhaps go out on a bright yet cloudy day. It seems to emphasise the depth and between each tree, and accentuate the shape and colour of the petals more with shadows, than photographing on a bright, sunny day.
