Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was made at Coronet ski road in Queenstown, New Zealand, 06-08-2016

Time

A group of us photogs arrived at this lookout predawn, with the idea of doing a sunrise shoot, while waiting for that to happen, the workers started to arrive for work at the ski field, the front and rear lights caught my attention, so set up the camera to record the individual cars as they drove past, this was at approx. 7am, as it turned out the sunrise wasn't that great. Am pleased with the outcome of this combined image.

Lighting

Set the camers settings to catch time motion, F11; 30 secs; iso 500

Equipment

The camera used was the Fuji X-T1, lens was the 18-55 mm, focal length was at 18 mm

Inspiration

Watching the cars arriving, you could see them at the bottom of the hill till virtually to the top, This corner just happened to be where we arrived to do the sunrise, how convenient !!, was a no brainer to shift my possy to where this was shot.

Editing

Looked at blending several images to make one stand out, ended up just using a single image, small crop, usual exp, highlights, shadows, sharpening, noise control, saturation.

In my camera bag

In those days, Fuji X-T1, 18-55mm, 50-200mm, tripod, filters, spare batteries, spare SD cards, remote controls. My Camera bag has now increased in size and weight. !!

Feedback

My advice is too be always open minded at your site as to what is happening around you, and always have a look over your shoulder, because you never know !! And of course practice, practice, practice, :-)
