I took this photo in my yard in Louisville, Colorado! Planted Crocosmia to attract Hummingbirds and create a nice photographic backdrop!Time
Around 2:00pm afternoon!Lighting
There were clouds but sunlight sneeking thru and lit the iridescent back feathers just enough!Equipment
Canon 5D MK III and Tamron 100-400 Di VC USD zoom ...1/800 at f6.3 ISO 640 lens at 400Inspiration
Hummingbirds are fascinating creatures! The only bird that can fly backwards and most weight about 1/10 to 1/15 of an ounce. They are only in the Americas but not in Europe, Asia or Africa. They are fearless except when there are wasps in the area!Editing
I use Lightroom to adjust contrast, vibrance, shadows, highlights and sharpen! In my camera bag
Canon 5D MK III, 7D MK II, EOS 17-40 L, EOS 100/f2.8 L Macro and Tamron 100-400 Di VC USD zoom!Feedback
Never show side to side movement when approaching a hummer! Have camera up and ready and walk slowly toward the subject! Take shots as you approach to make sure you get something!
