Location
I took this photo on a famous tourism spot in Bogor, Indonesia, 2 hours driving from my home.Time
Drove early in the morning before people swarming up on the spot and it was worth it. I remember get up at 3 and ready to go at 4 AM. Arrived on the spot early around 6 and looking for composition. Its not about the light chase, but more to find less busy timing due to this place is quite famous among local.Lighting
I wanted to have a mystical look of the river. Early in the morning was the best time, and i waited a little bit for the sun to lite the trees on the background. The dew even more soften the mood. I used CPL to help with the haze and reflection on the water and rocks.Equipment
This was shot with Nikon D750, 16-35mm Nikkor lens, completed with CPL. I use sirui carbon tripod which held camera steady on the river streamInspiration
I always like the challenge to shot famous location from different perspective. This river stream actually a part of the bigger waterfall. That waterfall was shot by a lot of people and in my opinion was lack of the foreground. It is still beautiful but i want something unique. I took a moment to wander around and see this beautiful little stream. Set my tripod, filter, and i am ready to shot.Editing
I shot in RAW. So post processing is a must. Yet i tried to minimize it, so it will look as natural as possible. Lens correction is the first thing i did as i was using ultra wide 16mm focal length. Once its done, I did white balance adjustment, little tweak on vibrancy and saturation while enhancing golden glow on the upper part of the frame. In my camera bag
I like travel light and I do like wide angle perspective. So i always have my Nikon D750 with 16-35mm F4 VR GED on my bag. I use optical filters a lot. I am big fan of CPL, Reverse GND 0.9, ND64, ND8, and GND 1.2. Tripod is a must for my landscape photography. I also bring intervalometer, and last but not least, I bring 3 batteries complete with its charger.Feedback
This is quite simple shot. All you need is arrived early before anyone else, take your time to familiarize yourself with the spot. Forget about the sky as here, the location is on the base of the canyon. Just focus on the beautiful forest and the river. Do little walk down stream, you will be surprised on what you will get
