Location
This shot was taken in the Berkeley Hills, overlooking San Francisco.Time
The shot was taken at sunset. I believe it was late winter.Lighting
Like all photos, the lighting in this shot, is the shot. The way the light streams through the city is what I was after.Equipment
Shot on a canon 5dmk3, 70-200 f2.8 canon lens, monfrotto tripod with geared head.Inspiration
I had noticed one day when in the city how the light filters through the building and thought on the right day that might look pretty dramatic. Finding the right spot to take the shot was tricky!Editing
Very little post.. processed in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I try and keep the bag light and usually only have my 5dmk3, 70-200 and 24mm f1.4. I find with those two lenses you can cover just about everything.Feedback
Take photos, take a lot of photos. Try and go out with an idea you want to capture. If you got no ideas, get onto Instagram and search your location. Find a shot you like, then figure out how to take it. It doesn’t matter if someone else and a thousand people have already taken the same shot.. yours won’t be identical. The more you are out shooting, the more the ideas will start to flow. Mostly.. travel! See the world, take photographs, lots of them.
