Location
I took this photo from the Walkway Over the Hudson which is a pedestrian bridge that spans the Hudson River between Poughkeepsie, NY and Highland, NY. Formerly a railroad bridge built in the late 19th century, the bridge is over a mile long and over 200 feet above the river.Time
This was taken in late October around noontime during a fall foliage trip.Lighting
Unfortunately it was noonish on a bright sunny day so the lighting was pretty harsh but it did highlight the fall colors.Equipment
I took this photo from the bridge, hand-held using a Canon 70D with a Tamron 16-300mm lens at 141mm.Inspiration
I liked the fall colors and the leading line of the track going off into the unknown. A train recently passed which drew my attention to the area but I wasn't able to get into position to get the train in time.Editing
Because of the harsh lighting I had to take down the highlights and bring up the shadows quite a bit which left the water looking an odd color so I had to adjust that. I also added a touch of vibrance to bring out the fall colors a bit more.In my camera bag
Typically I use a Tamron 24-70mm lens as my walk-around lens but used the Tamron 16-300 this time in case I needed something with more reach.Feedback
Two things I would do before going again: 1) check the weather for a day with better lighting, and 2) check the train schedule to be in place when the train comes by.
