Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the tiny Mediterranean Island of Malta. The Cracked Cliff is located on the west cost.

Time

This shot was planned in advance as I wanted the sun to be located exactly in the middle between the cracked cliff, I remember that I had to park my car a bit further away as it is located in a very dangerous road bent.

Lighting

As soon I arrived on the spot where I planned to take the shot I was trying to see which best position to take the photo for a better composition. Than sat down on a rock and waited for the best dramatic light to happen as I wanted the sun light to hit the side walls of the cliff.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D810. ISO 100, 1/200sec at f/8.0 on a Mephoto travel tripod. and with a soft grad.

Inspiration

I was looking for a different composition , instead of a beach. So this cliff caught my eyes a few months before and I realized that this shoot had a nice seascape.

Editing

Yes I normally like to do some simply edits as I like to take all of my landscapes and seascapes in a RAW format. Some basic edits was more done on the white balance tweaked the shadows and texture for a bit detail in the rocks

In my camera bag

My Nikon D810 and my Sigma 24 to 35mm art lens that I had at the time. Some Lee filters that I like to carry and apart my travel Tripot and not to mention is my hot flask with coffee,

Feedback

In landscape photography you have to wait a lot for the best light, clouds formation and hope for some luck as the winds can play a lot specially when clouds start to form and be careful for any blur in bushes and trees. What I would loved more in this image is to get a more dramatic rainy clouds forming in the atmosphere as it gives a more dramatic scene. But apart from all of the photography stuff it gives me the pleasure to connect more with nature.
