Location
I took this photo at the Alaska Marine Terminal at the end of the Homer Spit - a natural, four-mile sand and gravel spit located at the end of the road in Homer, Alaska USA.Time
This photo was taken in the morning - a perfect time of day to avoid crowds and capture clean light. The tide was moving in causing nice water action complementing the grey skies for great long exposure opportunity.Lighting
This was a typical Alaska day with layers of fast moving grey clouds - perfect for long exposure photography.Equipment
I used the Pentax K-1 (Ricoh Pentax's 1st full frame DSLR. I was using a Benro COM37CL tripod, a Pentax DFA15-30 f2.8 lens. I used an external filter mount and 15-stop ND filter from NiSi.Inspiration
I love landscape and long- exposure photography and I live in Alaska - a perfect combination for creating wonderful images - especially after looking at the wonderful creations on photo sites like Viewbug.Editing
I primarily utilize Adobe camera raw for processing my images. In my camera bag
I have several camera bags which I can adapt for my photo outings, whether hiking in the Chugach mountains overlooking Anchorage, wandering the incomparable shoreline of Cook Inlet's Turnagain Arm, or exploring some of Alaska's beautiful glaciers. I primarily carry my Pentax K-1, my Pentax DFA 24-79 and DA 200 f2.7. And my Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens (and my Benro tripod!).Feedback
My best advice - figure out what you love to photograph, invest in good gear, see what images good photographers make, ask lots of questions, and practice, practice, practice!
