Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during the night opening of the Nice Carnival, Nice, France. I like the way this participant looked at me.

Time

The portrait was captured just before 10 PM.

Lighting

The area where the parade was going is well lit, but nothing else. THere is therefore little light. I used a fast 50 mm f1.4 and opened at f2.0

Equipment

I used a Nikon D700 with a 50 mm f1.4. The built-in flash of the camera was used.

Inspiration

Well, I was out to take photos of the people, to capture interesting or weird faces, some good portraits. I liked the way this participant looked at me.

Editing

Basic tone adjustments in LR, and some simple touches in PS.

In my camera bag

I often just take one body and a couple of lenses or zoom. It depends on what the purpose and the event or situation is. According to what I'm going to shoot, I take either the 24-70 f2.8 or the 70-200 f2.8, r both. I also often take a fast prime lens with me, wide (24 mm f1.4) or else 50 mm or 85 mm f1.4.

Feedback

No special advice. Just go to the carnival or the event and enjoy yourself. If you're part of the party, then it will be easy to take photos.
