Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside of my parents house, next to their front door.

Time

I had to keep walking over to the plant to see when the flower would start to bloom. When you look at them at first they are completely rolled up and look like little white sticks. So, by the time this one started to bloom it was around 5pm in the evening.

Lighting

The lighting is the natural lighting from the sun.

Equipment

I took this photo with a Nikon D7200 and an 18-300 lens. I did not use a tripod or a flash.

Inspiration

My mother kept raving about how beautiful this flower was when it bloomed and how it looked like rolled up napkins. I love to take close up photographs of flowers and items in nature, so i was intrigued.

Editing

I edited it slightly in photoshop raw.

In my camera bag

I have my Nikon D7200 body, my 18-300mm lens, I also carry my 18-200 lens occasionally. I have a tripod, my fish-eye lens, a leveler, and lens cleaner.

Feedback

Take as many photos as possible. Try different angles and positions for your subject. I love to experiment when I am out taking photographs and I truly believe that is when I get the most magical of my photos.
