A powerful portrait depicting emotions often buried and rarely revealed to others.
Outstanding work with a direct and effective approach on a sensitive subject.

What an incredibly powerful image. Your hair hiding your eye speaks volumes but I also see the spark of anger in your eye too. Impressive photo.

Location
This was taken late one night at home in my bedroom after I did my Scarf Self Portrait Session. I was bored, as often as I am, and wanted to mess with my makeup.Time
This photograph was taken at night, around midnight.Lighting
I was shooting in my master bedroom at night. I have a few windows that can leak light, lucky for me it was a moonless night so it was pitch black in my room. I used a single light source, my desk lamp. A 60 watt bulb, warm light, with the shade taken off.Equipment
This was shot with my SONY A-58. I used a Minolta Lens 35-50mm. No flash was needed since I was using the desk lamp in my room. The lamp was about face level high with the shade taken off.Inspiration
When one is bored there is no telling what He or She will come up with! I had just done a Self Portrait Session with my scarves. Since I had such pretty make-up on I wanted to mess it up in a big way. Don't poke your eye with the Mascara Wand, you'll get tears and red eyes, but that was exactly what I wanted. I wanted the feel of sadness and that I had been crying for a long time. I feel, yet don't feel anymore. If that makes sense. "Was she/I abused? Did she/I just have a bad break up? What is her/my story?" The end of sadness.Editing
Not much needed to be done to this. In post just turning the photograph to Black and White and increase the contrast a bit.In my camera bag
Since I am a fan of Sony products, I always have a Sony Camera, currently my A-58 along with a few kit lenses. My 50mm Prime Minolta lens is a permanent bag lens along with my 35-70mm Sony Lens.Feedback
Mess around with emotions and make up. While I don't advise sticking things in your eye, that is what I did in order to get myself to cry. Whatever works right? I used my Mascara Wand and heavily used it on my eyes, along with drawing on my face and eye brows. Once I poked the mascara wand in my eye the tears began to flow. Again, I don't advise this, maybe use a splash of water? For the location, use a dark, pitch black room and only a single light source close to the face. Experiment, have fun, and be safe.
