Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my friends room - I was the tenant in the same unit before her. Her room was my room, so it was a cool connection loop.

Time

Sometime between 9am and 10am.

Lighting

Tons of natural light! 2 of the walls are framed with windows from corner to corner. It definitely got chilly in the cold Minnesota Winters. I remember thinking of it as an ice box and heading to bed with multiple layers of sweatpants, sweatshirts and even a hat.

Equipment

Canon 6D with the Sigma 35mm Art

Inspiration

It was winter, my photography business was so slow. I needed a creative burst of energy, so I teamed up with Mary to create some images.

Editing

Edited in Lightroom to bring the colors forward. I think I may have photoshopped some specs of lint or debris, but overall pretty simple.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark iii Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art Canon 50mm 1.2 L Profoto A1 Flash For weddings, I add on: 100mm Macro 70-200mm 2.8 L 24-70mm 2.8 L

Feedback

If shooting indoors, pay attention to the lighting of the room the week before. What time of morning does the light stream in? Plan your session around this time. Arrive earlier for set up.
