Behind The Lens

Location

In my backyard, Merrimack, NH

Time

I had a few minutes to spare after lunch, and crammed in some shooting practice. As luck would have it, the prey I stalk the most were very active in the garden that day

Lighting

I had the full sun to contend with, and was an amateur back then, so took me a few minutes to work out the kinks with the whites being washed away. When I finally adjusted all the variables, it was happenstance that I captured this fast moving little lady.

NIKON D5000 Settings : Aperture f/5.6?ISO 200?Shutter 10/7500? No other equipment or post processing required

Inspiration

I stalk bugs. I am always waiting for that perfect moment to snap. They can be incredibly fast, so I find the challenge quite entertaining and rewarding.

Editing

I try to avoid post-processing as much as possible, as I like to do the work in the camera and love for things to look natural. I have just started recently learning the Luminar and Aurora HD editing/processing programs.

In my camera bag

At least two back up lens, spare batteries (freshly charged), spare USB drives

Feedback

Patience, a good eye for the small stuff most people miss, and willingness to work through constant adjustments for lighting changes due to clouds, wind blowing trees and other objects that cast shadows. You must also be able to sit still while other bugs are flying closely around. Mostly patience.
