This is Rimrocks Toadstools in southern Utah, sitting between Kanab, Utah and Page, Arizona. It's just under a mile trek along a sandy gully to reach this spot. So if you shoot past sunset into the blue hour, make sure the batteries in your headlamp are fresh, unlike mine.

As for the name for this photograph, the game of chess came to mind while I was hunkered down in this little ravine next to what looked like a fallen game piece.
