Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken very early in the morning. I got up at 4:30 a.m. took the dog for a walk, showered, prepared my equipment met up with friends and we drove to the northern tip of the Island of ibiza, Portinatx, parked the car and then walked some... to arrive at this magical place with these natural rock formations.

Time

As I said before I have to get up very early and do a lot of chores, before I can leave for a location.I left from home at 6:oo a.m.

Lighting

At this hour lighting is a problem but not a big one as I enjoy taking my time with long exposures. As the light clears I might use a density filter in this case a 6 stop, which enables me to get get a longer exposure and a small diaphragm for more depth of field.

Equipment

A wide angle Canon 16 - 35, tripod, and density filter (6 stop)

Inspiration

I love the natural formations of these stones and rocks, slowly they are changing with erosion and time, so I feel that it is important to capture them before they disappear.

Editing

I always like to pass my photos for lightroom and then photoshop, tweaking them a little but not too much. This photo is a combination of two shots HDR. directly in Lightroom, then pass over to Photoshop for final tweaking.

On occasions like this shoot, I always carry a wide angle and a density filter (six stops) a good sturdy tripod and the usual...

Feedback

Arrive early, sometimes it is difficult to find the location... give yourself time to find different angles and composition.Already have an idea of what you want to capture. and above all enjoy yourself!
