In February of this 2016, I planned this trip to photograph the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyons of Arizona. However, on this trip my wife and I decided to take a few hours out of our way and drive up to Monument Valley in Utah. It really has been on my bucket list of places not just to photograph but to just purely visit. We arrived later in the day and had little time to explore. However, I knew this was the framing and composition that I had to capture. It's the iconic and recognizable three vistas of Monument Valley. What I didn't plan on was the spectacular sky and colors that would unfold as the sun set behind me. I used a graduated ND filter to help control the light of the sky and really deepen the colors. This place is simply breath taking to see in person!
