Location
This is Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe in Scotland.Time
We were on holiday with family so I had limited opportunities and time and as a result this was taken mid morning about 10.30 am, though it was a beautiful still morning, but would have been better nearer sunrise, cest la vie!Lighting
The light was to my right giving side lighting, so emphasised detail and gave nice reflections.Equipment
Manfrotto 055B pro tripod, Samsung GX10, Sigma 18-50 EX DC Macro f2.8 and cable release.Inspiration
The beautiful setting which we had passed several times and on this occasion a lovely still morning.Editing
Just the basics tweaking the exposure and white/black points plus a little dodging and burning. In my camera bag
Now days it is the K3 with Pentax 12-24, 16-50, 50-135 and sigma 70 mm macro.Feedback
This would have been wonderful first thing in the morning near sunrise, unfortunately I could not take advantage. So to do it right plan your shot by Planning i.e. watch local weather conditions for particular locations and checking sunrise times and direction for a particular time of year using programs/apps such as The Photographers Ephemeris. Arrive early, ensure adequate clothing for the conditions, making sure you have the equipment desired and spare batteries and memory cards.
