Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Salzburg during a hike with my family. Our lovely daughter was building some rock towers and I took pictures of them for keepsake.

Time

This was the shot I liked the best of the rock towers because of the little hut in the background just across the river, which gave it a nice touch of color. It was already afternoon, even though we stopped for a late lunch break.

Lighting

What I like about that picture is the blurred little hut in the background which was lit by the sun coming through some clouds.

Equipment

Camera: NIKON D800 Aperture: 3/1 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/640 Focal Length: 105 There was no other equipment involved.

Inspiration

My daughter was building the rock towers with her dad and she wanted to have a keepsake, so we came up with the idea of making beautiful pictures of them and framing them at home.

Editing

I touched up the colors a bit on this one, since it was afternoon and the sun was looking through some clouds.

In my camera bag

I always carry my trusty Nikon D800 with me as well as my 105mm Macro lens and most of the time a 24-70 mm/2.8 and a 70-200mm/2.8, sometimes some other lenses too. Depends on where I go and what I want to do.

Feedback

One of the major challenges during this shot was getting down very low. I had to get down to the floor which was, since it was a riverbed, a little muddy. I always carry some big plastic wastebags with me, so I don't get too dirty trying to get pictures like these.
