Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at Tanyard Creek in Bella Vista, Arkansas on my way home from work.

Time

On my way home for work I always liked to stop at this waterfall. I was racing against time when I took this shot and did not have a tripod with me. I am definitely learning something new every day and knew this was going to be a challenge. Sun setting, no tripod and moving water.

Lighting

I must have taken this picture a dozen times changing the settings each time until I finally was satisfied. Lighting can be so tricky for me so I try taking several pictures with different settings to learn more about lighting and my camera.

Equipment

This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 6Ti, 18-55 mm.

Inspiration

Every night after work I would stop at Tanyard Creek and take a walk to de-stress.. I always saw something new. When I ran across the waterfall I found the perfect place to sit and enjoy.

Editing

The only post-processing I did was in Light Room and just used the auto tone. To my untrained eye, I was satisfied with just using that.

In my camera bag

I do not pack much in my bag. I always have my EF 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm zoom. Sometimes I will include my tripod or monopod.

Feedback

I have learned how to practice patients through photograph. I stopped at Tanyard Creek every day but it took several weeks, if not a month, before I took this picture. The wait is well worth the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction taking this picture gave me. As simple as this picture may see to other people, it was a process of learning for me and as they say "Knowledge is power". I love practicing the same shot in different modes. I am always surprised at what I learn.
