Location
This photo was taken in one of the fishing spots here in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Expats and locals come to this place more often with their fishing rods or equipment.Time
Me and my fellow amateur photographers have a habit to wake up early in the morning especially during Fridays and Saturdays to catch sunrises and hoping clouds would appear to add beauty during these days. Because in Saudi Arabia, what I noticed is that in 365 days clouds do not appear too often. But in this photo, clouds indeed came out waiting for the sun to come behind it. Also, if you zoom in, you can see King Fahd Causeway, a bridge that connects Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.Lighting
As you know, the position of the camera is against the sun making all things in the foreground silhouette in most cases. So to add depth and more layers to this image, I see to it that the foreground is well lighted, not just the wooden pallet but the rocks as well.Equipment
As I have mentioned, the foreground should be well lighted, hence, I used Lee ND Grad Filter Hard 0.9 and 0.6 Soft to block the sun light and add enough light to the foreground. Also, two Canon speedlights were used with a trigger Yongnuo triggers. Other equipments used are Canon 6D and a tripod.Inspiration
In this particular photo, I imagined myself standing on the wooden pallet grasping a new hope from yesterday's trials and failure. Involving myself in this scene, I experienced no hard time to think on how to take this shot the moment I saw this spot. As if everything was a preset. I always believe sunrises bring a new hope to everyone's life. I always believe in this, even before I started taking pictures.Editing
Yes. This was post processed in Photoshop. I added more lights in the background by adjusting the curve a little. Also, adding more vibrance and saturation. In my camera bag
In my camera bag, you can see Canon 6D, Canon 7D, EF17-40mm F4 L, EF 100mm F2.8 L, EF 70-200 F4 L, Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art, Yongnuo 14EX ring flash, 3 Canon Speedlights and Lee Filers. Plus of course a handy Manfrotto Tripod snap in my bag.Feedback
I am sure you have heard a lot of good advises from other known landscape photographers. Patience is one. This is what I would like to emphasize. Have patience to wait for the right moment, patience to look for a good spot or angle and most importantly patience to never stop learning.
