Behind The Lens

Location

From the Jacques Cartier Bridge which links Montreal to Longueuil. It was taken on the eastern side of the bridge, in Longueuil. I was there to get a picture of the Biosphere but this was one of those moments when something unexpected and more original came up.

Time

It was early night.

Lighting

To ensure stability, the camera is sitting on the fence. It was the only position I could get that angle from, since the tripod heigh was insufficient. The empty building which seemed still under construction was entirely lightened up.

Equipment

Nikon D5000, 300mm VR zoomed at maximum, Sigma lens.

Inspiration

A personnal history. I used to be a security guard and I felt nostalgic about the time I could walk in the silence of these endless corridors and stairways that are hidden to the public eyes.

Editing

I do slightly adjust the colors, contrast and lightning of all my picture. That one was also cropped.

In my camera bag

A basic 55mm zoom with a polarized lens, extra batteries and most definitely, a retractible tripod because you just can't always bring the real deal.

Feedback

Do not focus on a single planned photography setup. Keep you eyes, mind and heart open, and you'll find more opportunities that you bargained for, every single time.
