The photo was shot in Angel's home, in her master suite, one bright summer morning around 10:00 a.m. I have worked with Angel for several years and it's always a joy. We have such a good working relationship she needs very little guidance, mostly on things she can't see, a hair out of place for example. When working with models that relationship is critical, it's not just a matter of the model being comfortable with the photographer but just as important is the photographer's comfort with the model and how guide or direct her.Time
This whole White Bed series with Angel is one of my favorite sessions. We shot this on June 20, 2015 around 10:00 a.m.Lighting
Angel's bed is in an alcove surrounded with windows, so between the natural light, the white bedding and a single white reflector combined with a spectacular model, it was all that was needed to make a great image.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3 and AF-S Nikkor 105mm f/1.4E EDInspiration
Angel wanted some sensual images for her portfolio as well as an album to give to her fiancé as a wedding gift.Editing
Post processing was some sharpening, cropping and some cleanup of stray hairs. In my camera bag
I always pack my Nikon D3, AF-S Nikkor 105mm f/1.4E ED, AF-S Nikkor 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR, AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED and AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR. For flash I keep a couple Nikon SB800 flashes.Feedback
As I stated previously, a relationship with your model is critical. Make your made feel at ease, comfortable. Take some time before the shoot to get to know each other, find out what she is or isn't comfortable with, how much guidance does she need. Music is important, find out what she likes and put it on in the background, not so loud that it interferes with communication but loud enough for her to hear and enjoy. In the end the music will help her relax and have fun. pay attention to details. Clothing wrinkles and crumples can ruin a photo. It's important to get the photo as close to perfect as you can in the camera to limit the amount of post processing that is required.
