This image was shot in my home, in Massillon, Ohio in the master bedroom, this room is full of natural light.Time
This was shot one Saturday morning about 11:30.Lighting
Lighting was natural morning light, coming from the left of the Angel, diffused slightly through a white window sheer and a white reflector to the front right throwing some soft light back on her to fill and soften shadows.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3S, 105mm f/2.8; ISO 320, f/4, 1/80 secondInspiration
What inspired me? Well, look at her! She is beautiful and as I said earlier, a natural. Angel is confident and relaxed. Actually this wasn't even a planned shot if I'm being honest. She was sitting there waiting for me to get setup and shoot this series. The way she is sitting, the expression on her face, she was actually joking with me about keeping her waiting. I couldn't resist so I fired off the shot before she moved. What ended up is probably one of my favorite images of Angel. It is just natural, she looks like she just woke up and sat up in bed. She is an amazing model to work with.Editing
Minimal post processing. Cropping, some clean up of some wisps of hair and some very slight sharpening that's it.In my camera bag
2 Nikon D3s camera bodies, 50mm f4, 105mm, Nikon 300mm f4, Nikon 2 SB800 flash, 1 SB600 flash and miscellaneous filters, fasteners, clamps and such.Feedback
If you're shooting a model you really need to find one that is comfortable with herself and what she is doing and equally as comfortable working with you, the photographer. The tension will show in the final images if she is not comfortable and enjoying what she is doing. I have worked with Angel for several years now we have become good friends our photo sessions are a lot of talking and laughing while I'm shooting. It's just a great, fun time I think it's important to have the type of environment when shooting your models. From a technical standpoint, know your camera know your lighting.
