This image was taken one stormy evening in Weymouth, on the North Coast of TasmaniaTime
Just before sunsetLighting
Just on sunset the light started to shift and transform the clouds into a surreal array of Color.Equipment

In my experience dramatic weather make dramatic photographs and a feeling of the oncoming weather. On this afternoon the weather forecast was for howling wind and driving rain, perfect ! This rocky shore offers a great focal point at the base of the image and helps draw viewers in.Editing
I like to keep in simple when processing landscapes, in this image I used graduated filters to boost the color and detail in the sky. Brushed a slightly higher white balance over the water at the base to bring out the movement in the water. Bring the shadows up and drop the highlights to balance the image better. In my camera bag
Nikon D610, Manfrotto BeFree Tripod, Samyang 14mm f/2.8, Tamron Sp 70-200mm f/2.8, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8, Samyang 85mm f/1.4, NISI 150mm Filter holder, NISI HD polariser, NISI GND8, NISI ND64, lots of cleaning clothsFeedback
When heading out with the intention of capturing a long exposure sunset image don't be afraid to work with slightly shorter exposures than you expect, perhaps 2 to 3 seconds to create drama and interest. There is a time and place for a 30sec exposure to flatten the water but I can't stress enough shorter long exposure times usually work even better.
