Location
This photo was taken in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg in a small rural village called Oredezh. Here is to break the stereotypes: Russia doesn't always have to be icy cold!Time
The time was 7:30PM, it a was beautiful summer day coming to its end. The sun was low casting nice long shadows and the flower field looked magical.Lighting
I wanted the picture to look calm and balanced, so I have purposefully chosen this particular time of the day. Anyone could just wander in the summer field during the sunset and experience a simple beauty of living, and I just decided to capture it on my camera.Equipment
This picture was shot with Canon 5D Mark II on EF 135mm f/2L USM.Inspiration
I was spending some holidays in the rural area away from the big city and I wanted to capture a simple beauty of living, in little details. People frequently forget how to enjoy small things in life and I wanted to remind of that.Editing
Because this photo was shot when the sun was already very low, the shadows were long and pretty and the colors warm – so I didn't do much post-processing. Just cropped the photo so the composition looks balanced and corrected the white balance. I always shoot RAW though. In my camera bag
I usually have my Canon Mark II, wide angle lens 16-35, Sigma 50mm 1.4 and Canon 135mm 2.0. When I shoot architecture & landscape at golden hours I bring the tripod along as well.Feedback
I think it is very easy to get this kind of setting. It is just the clear summer day coming to an end. Natural field or forest always look good. What is tricky – is to create the mood for the person in the frame. You should get connected and really get on the same wavelength.
