Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a studio near Lausanne in Switzerland.

Time

In the afternoon

Lighting

double light source: a softbox just in front of the model, a little to the right, high up so that the light falls at 45°, and another one behind me to illuminate the whole scene

Equipment

Nikon d800 with a Nikon 135mm f/2 lens @ f/8 1/125 iso 100 This lens has high quality and excellent quilting. It is fabulous for portraiture, the only problem in the studio is the distance you have to have.

Inspiration

The model, Melany, has been practicing classical dance for several years and we have been experimenting with movement. Melany is very graceful and very patient :-)

Editing

Yes, a slight post-processing : development in LR then processing in PS: levels, split frequency, background cleanup

In my camera bag

Two reflex Nikon d800 to avoid lens changing. For portrait photography : Sigma Art 85mm f/1.4, a must have, Nikon 135mm f/2, eventually Nikon 50mm f/1.4 For landscape photography : two lenses Sigma 24-105 and Sigma 100-400

Feedback

Be patient and try as many times as necessary until the desired result is achieved. For this photo I counted 3-2-1-0 at 1 Melany would start the movement, at 0 I would take the picture Numerous tests were necessary
