Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot at home in my backyard. I am a self taught photographer. I will read my book and then go out and practice what I just read and try to get the shot. Sometimes it takes weeks and weeks.

Time

This shot was taken mid morning I believe. It’s a few years ago now that this shot was taken. I remember waiting patiently for the hummingbirds to come along and being very quite. It was well worth the wait. I was very happy with my photo.

Lighting

The morning sun was coming around the trees. I think it would have been nice if the sun would have been shining on the hummingbird. There is just a hint of light on the top of the hummingbirds head.

Equipment

This was taken on a Sony A300 at the time. I used my 4.5-5.6 /75-300 mm lens.

Inspiration

I have a passion for photography and just want to learn. My goal at the time was to take a fast shutter speed and freeze my photo.

Editing

No post processing, what you see here is how it was taken.

In my camera bag

My equipment was pretty simple and still is, my lenses at the time were Sony 4-5.6 / 55-200 lens and a 4.5-5.6 /75-300 lens as well as a macro lens.

Feedback

Having patience as a photographer is key. And practice, practice, practice. I have learnt that it doesn’t just take 10 to 100 shots to get the photo you want. Sometimes it will take 1000’s of pictures to get the photo you want. And I am still practicing.
