I took this photo at my mum's house, It was my Nan's 80th Birthday.Time
It was taken in the afternoon as my nan was opening her presents.Lighting
I only used the natural light in the room, my nan isn't really happy about having a camera pointed at her let alone using a flash. So I discretely took the shot at low light.Equipment
I used my canon 5d3 and my Canon 24-105 USM IS lens.Inspiration
My nan doesn't like having her photo taken but when I saw my young daughter helping her open her present, I noticed the difference between their hands and how beautiful a gesture it was for my daughter to help her great grandmother, I simply had to capture the moment. It was a very special day too because my nan had been very poorly a few months earlier and we nearly lost her.Editing
I simply converted the photo to black and white and boosted the clarity to bring out the details in my nan's ageing hands. In my camera bag
As well as my beloved Canon 5D Mark III I always carry my Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens because it has a good range for many types of scenes. I never leave home without my Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM. I love shooting wide as I said before. Wide angle lenses can bring home some really fun creative shots. My other favourite lens is my Canon 180mm f/3.5L USM macro; macro is my passion but I've recently discovered that this lens also doubles up as a great lens for outdoor portraits too as it's razor sharp but creates beautiful soft bokeh.Feedback
This was a priceless and timeless moment, all I can say is look out for the small things that mean a lot.
