Location
Whilst on a road trip with my family, We stopped off at the Grand Canyon where happened upon this fellow. Photo ops like this don't come along every day so I clicked away until he climbed back up.Time
I had been shooting condors over the canyon for most of the day and decided to move further round the rim to get better lighting. So it would have been late in the afternoon when this shot was taken. The light was bouncing off the rocky outcrop and I was focusing on the ridge when he just climbed out to the edge. So lucky.Lighting
The lighting was super. Just enough shade to excentuate the glow of the suns rays rock and the hazy back round really brought out the sharpness of the ridge.Equipment
To capture this image I used my Nikon D700 with my Nikon 80-200mm Zoom lens. As I did not have my mono with me at the time I used the handrail at the edge of the cliff face to steady the camera for the shot.Inspiration
The Grand Canyon to photograph is inspirational in itself, The man on the edge was a once in a lifetime bonus.Editing
To make the image more interesting, I enlarged it so that the subject was more distinct and touched the colour a little. In my camera bag
Most of my photography is taken whilst traveling so the lenses that I mainly use are the Nikon 18-200 mm or Nikon 80-400mm zooms. For convenience and because I am always on the move I use a monopod rather than a tripod. When at home I have Nikon 105mm micro and 80-200mm lenses that I use for specific shoots.Feedback
I have always thought of photography as an art and with this in mind ideas ,angles and an eye for framing have come naturally. My advise to the beginner is to always shoot what appeals to you. Your eye sees the image. The camera captures what you see. Learn to use your camera to its best advantage and the results will come.
