Used off camera flash on my left shoulder and the model was holding a golden reflector in her handsEquipment
This was taken on a Nikon D600, 85mm 1.8 lens, off camera Flash SB-910, golden portable reflector,Inspiration
The model had some dust paint leftovers from the 5K Color Run race in Mexico City sitting there, unused and we've been wanting to do something with it. We had different color options to choose from (Magenta, Yellow, Green, Blue) and we ended up pickin color blue because personally I think it would complement perfectly her skin stones and the light from the golden reflector. And after seeing how the paint turned out in her face, it took me right away to that Mel Gibson's movie, Brave Heart, so we messed her hair a little bit and immediately got the look we were hoping for.Editing
A little bit post-processing, basically a filter from Alien Skin Software to enhance blue and yellow tones, saturation and contrast. In my camera bag
I always carry my favorite lens with me which is an 85mm since I am more of a portrait photographer and I absolutely love the bokeh it produces. I also carry a 50mm in case I am in reduced spaces, my SB-910 Speedlight, flash triggers, a couple ND filters cause you never now when you can get creative and play with shutter speeds, 2 batteries, at least 4 SD cards, a portable reflector (white, silver, gold), tripod and I guess that's it for a normal day...Feedback
I think it all comes down to the expression and the connection the model creates with the viewer. To me, that's what really adds drama to this particular photo, her eyes are amazing. The paint was just a complement to get a hold on the final look we were after.
