Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Maroon Belles outside Aspen, CO.

Time

This photo was taken at mid-morning in late Sept.

Lighting

I wanted a sufficient lighting effect to really highlight the water as well as the mountains.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon 5200 with a standard lenses. I had just gotten this camera and had not shopped for any lenses yet. I wanted to capture how majestic the scene was.

Inspiration

I love Fall colors. They are the reason I got into photography in the first place. I really wanted to pull the scene together by including the colors, the mountains and the water into one frame.

Editing

I didn't have to do a lot to this cause it turned out better than I anticipated. I played with the colors in the editing software.

In my camera bag

I have a main body, 3 lenses and cleaning supplies. I also carry extra batteries and memory cards.

Feedback

Getting to the Maroon Belles is difficult now. You have to take a shuttle from a nearby parking garage and it's a pain. You can also go at dawn. I do mean sun up. Photographers are allowed at that time. You need $10 (cash) to park. So make sure you have it before you enter the park. There is a collection box for it just beyond the gate.
