Location
Vancouver Aquarium, Vancouver, BC, Canada.Time
It was taken at noon, however, given that the picture was taken indoors with artificial lighting, the time of day had no impact on the picture itself. Lighting was either full on or full off, depending on wether the aquarium was simulating viewing for daylight conditions or night conditions.Lighting
Overhead halogen lighting was used to light the aquarium. To make the lighting most life like to what would normally be found in the environment that these jelly fish live, the lighting was extremely subdued. This required shooting at high ISO settings and high speeds to freeze the motion of the jelly fish.Equipment
Nikon D700 camera and 55mm Nikon lens.Inspiration
The ease at which the jelly flesh floated in the artificial current was beautiful if not hypnotic.Editing
Used Lightroom to boost the brightness, clarity and contrast of the overall image. In my camera bag
On this particular photo shoot I brought only my camera and a single lens knowing how crowded and difficult in shooting in an enclosed space would be.Feedback
Because of the dim lighting at Aquariums, you will need to use relatively high camera ISO's and speeds. At minimum, some post processing will be required to remove some of the unwanted noise that will most likely appear.
