Location
Photo was taken on the old, almost abandoned road in Žabljak municipality in Montenegro. Being used only by locals helped preserve the leaves carpet on the pavement from being blown away by the cars,Time
We came by this road looking for some nature photo opportunity, with low frequency traffic allowing us a lot of photo stops, so we came to this spot somewere around 4:00pm, with sunset getting near, and the light becoming softer, with less contrast.Lighting
I used no additional light, just relaying on the light comming through the trees, and the rain that was falling for the most of the day removed the polution from the air and made everything fresh and colorful. Autumn is my favourite time of year for taking photos of the trees and forests, so every little bit came into place for this shot.Equipment
This was shot with Nikon D7100, with Nikkor 55-300mm f/1:4.5-5.6G VR DX lens with UV filter.Inspiration
As we drove along the road, I looked back through the back window of the car, and immediately saw this photo in my mind. I almost looked like the golden tunel of leaves, with ancient and mysterious look of the road, almost covered with fallen leaves, disappearing into the unknown. It had some fairy tale feeling, and I really like fairy tales.Editing
As I mostly do when post-processing, I made some modification to the highlights and shadows, with a bit of clarity added, colors were vivid enough so I had no need to tamper with it. Also did some sharpening, focused mostly on the leaves and trees on the sides of the photo. As a final touch, I balanced the levels of whites and blacks to remove few burnout spots. In my camera bag
Since I am mostly a nature and landscape amateur photographer, I usually carry around Nikon D7100 with Nikkor 16-85mm f/1:3.5-5.6G VR and Nikkor 55-300mm f/1:4.5-5.6G VR lens, and Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 prime lens tripod, some filters and remote. These are all DX lenses, since I use the DX sensor camera, and they cover almost everything I came upon during my photo trips. Also, when I want to experiment with some plant macros, I carry Tamron 60mm f/2 1:1 macro lens. And a few sandwiches, of course.Feedback
Just don't stay inside on a rainy day. Instead, go out, and find some old road that few still use, and look for some fairy tale moments as you walk or drive along. Old roads tend to have a few hidden somewhere along the way.
