Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a holiday in America. They was a group of us heading back up to Niagara lake after spending 9 days in Nashville Tennessee. The bridge was over a gorge and the Lansing & Birch river Summerville West Virginia.

Time

The photo was taken just after lunch, we had stopped in a picnic area at the visitor centre . I made my down the gentle path towards the observation point.

Lighting

The day was overcast, but the lighting showed the bridge and surrounding trees off fantastically

Equipment

Although I took a lot of images that day, I made the mistake of allowing both batteries to go flat in my Canon 1100D DSLR. This actual image was taken using my IPhone 6

Inspiration

I'd take a number of shots of this area, the bridge stood out over the winding river, that was out of site as the gorge was very deep. This actual image was just perfect and I could't afford to miss out on it.

Editing

No, other that crop the odd photo, I prefer to take the images I like using the natural light or flash as required. I don't like enhanced images using post processing as I feel these are no longer Photographs but prints

In my camera bag

I have 2 canon DSLRs a 1100d and a 750D, I use the 750D more now as the image quality is far superior. Although the camera has a built in flash, I use either a flash gun, or occasionally an electronic flash using a hot trigger, for portrait photography. I always use high speed SD card with a min 32gig storage. I've recently change to a WIFI SD card, so I can upload images without leads or swapping card in readers.

Feedback

I have found that the more shots i take from slightly different perspectives I can then find the ones I like best. Always use a high capacity memory card , that way if you are shooting RAW images you won't run out of space.
