This photo i actually took from a boat, right outside my cabin. When i spotted the seal, I was fishing, so i had to go back to my cabin and get my camera. Just surprised the seal didn't disappeared.Time
The picture was taken 9th of October 2015, 14:36. What really surprised me, was that the seal swam after the boat (because it was drifting away with the wind) for almost an hour! I did make some funny noises tho, maybe he got a little curious and was wondering what kind of animal I was. Hihi.Lighting
Since it was taken from a boat, i had no control over the lighting. If I remember right, it was cloudy, so a soft lighting that day i guess.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D5100, with an 150-500mm 1:5-1.3 APO HSM lens. And I have to admit, i used the boat as a tripod. I know guys, "how could I do that". But i had to hurry, so I forgot it back in the cabin.Inspiration
I love to take pictures of animals, I don't really know why, but I am a animal-lover, and I guess I just like to take pictures of things that are moving. And usually animals do move. And since I was fishing when i found out there was a seal swimming around, I couldn't miss the opportunity to take a picture of a SEAL - in NORWAY. I don't spend a lot of time by the sea, so to get a picture of an animal living in the water was absolutely fantastic!Editing
I did actually do some post-processing. Since this is a picture of a living creature, it ofcourse moved. There was some white waves in the water behind the seal that I decided to take away - to make it less "messy".In my camera bag
Since I am a self taught photographer and 16 years old, I don't really have a lot of equipment. I have my camera, and this HUGE lens that I mentioned earlier. And ofcourse an tripod.Feedback
The only advice I can give is that if you spot an animal, but thinks that "this chance i will get many more times", try either way. And ofcourse - to take pictures in a boat is terrible. Don't do it. If you have to, you have to, but try to stay on land if you want to get a clear shot!
